hi! I'm lara nasser, creator of hostile homeware. everything in our shop is made by me, and everything is for sale.
i grew up in lebanon and moved to new york in 2013, working as a conceptual artist over the next decade. i recently returned to beirut and found myself making abstract, alien-looking lamps in my studio. a friend of mine referred to them as “hostilities for the home...” and thus the brand was born.
i didn’t really know what to do with the project until a big, bright storefront caught my eye on pharoun street, beirut over the next 9 months i converted the former coffee roastery into a maximalist space where sci-fi decor clashes with retro, teta-core furniture and flirtatious paintings.
the result is a delightfully weird vibe we don't really know what to call yet, inviting visitors to shop, hang out, and enjoy a surreal escape from the purgatory of daily life.i like to think that every piece we sell is a disruption of the mundane, a portable totem of fantasy for buyers to live with.
if you've read this far, thanks friend! peruse our hostilities below, and follow us on instagram: @hostile.homeware
